1963: End of an astonishing Lord's Test between England and West Indies

On this day, back in 1963, the West Indies cricket team played an iconic Test match against hosts England at the Lords Cricket Stadium during the second game. However, the match has ended as the home team was able to chase down the total on Day 5.

Speaking about the game here, it was Windies skipper Frank Worrell who won the toss and invited the hosts to bowl first in the game. Notably, after being opted to bat first, the side posted 301 runs before being all out in the game. Conrad Hunte made 44 runs, featuring nine fours, while Easton McMorris made 16 runs. In addition, Gary Sobers hammered 42 runs, while Rohan Kanhai made 73 runs. Following them, Joe Solomon hammered 56 runs while Deryck Murray and Wes Hall made 20 and 25 runs, respectively.

However, during the chase, the English side was bundled out for 297 in the game. Micky Stewart made two runs while John Edrich was out on the duck. Following them, Ted Dexter made 70 runs, and Ken Barrington also hammered 80 runs. In addition to this, wicketkeeper batter Jim Parks could only make 35 runs while Fred Titmus hammered unbeaten 52 runs to bring his side close to the target.

Meanwhile, it was West Indies batter Basil Sutcher who made 133 runs from 261 balls, including 17 fours and two sixes, to help his side stand in the dominant position. Following him, skipper Frank Worrell also added 33 runs, which helped them make 229 runs before being bundled out of the game.

However, English camp also had an awful start during the second inning of the game, as Micky Stewart was able to get 17 runs while John Edrich made 8 runs. Following them, Ken Barrington made 60 runs while Brian Close made 70 runs, which helped them reach near the total as well as prevent them from suffering a loss against the formidable side.
