ZIM vs BAN (3rd ODI) – Highlights

On Wednesday, in the 3rd of the three-match ODI series, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh faced each other. After many days, Bangladesh was defeated by Zimbabwe in both T20 and ODI series. Bangladesh was not whitewashed in the T20 series. They came to play to save themselves from a whitewash in ODIs as well and due to excellent bowling, Bangladesh showed it by winning by 105 runs.

During the Zimbabwe tour, the Bangladeshi team failed to win the toss in even a single game. As in the previous five games in the ODI series, the Tigers lost the toss in the last game.

It was a Match to save the honor. But it caused a loss of respect in the beginning. Against Zimbabwean bowlers, Bangladesh lost 3 wickets for a total of 47 runs. From there, the Tigers got 256 runs for 9 wickets as Enamul Haque Bijoy and Afif Hossain played very well.

When Tamim Iqbal lost the toss, he made a cautious start. He hit two boundaries in the innings’ fourth over, showing signs of emerging from his shell. Another opener Bijoy also increased the pace of the run by hitting the boundary in the presence of the captain.

But on the third ball of the eighth over of the innings, calamity struck. Captain Tamim Iqbal was run out after scoring 19 runs off 30 balls with the help of 3 fours. Disaster struck again in the next over. On the first ball of the over Shanto got the golden duck. He was caught out by Evans and left the field. After two balls, Mushfiqur Rahim was caught out again. He also got to see the Golden Duck.

Despite losing three wickets in two overs, Bijoy did not lose courage. Instead, the right-handed starter picked up where Tamim left off, moving the club forward. It seemed that Bijoy might make the unachieved century of the first match today. But that didn’t happen anymore, he got out in the 25th over. He scored 76 runs. His 76 runs from 71-balls innings had 6 fours and 4 sixes. Then Mahmudullah returned to the dressing room after scoring 39 runs off 69 balls with 3 boundaries.

Then Mehidy Hasan Miraj scored 14 runs off 24 balls and was lbw by Sikandar Raja. It took five runs to get Taijul out.

From there, Afif Hossain Dhrubo almost single-handedly dragged the team to a respectable score. At the end of the innings, he brought Bangladesh 256 runs and remained unbeaten. Afif scored 85 runs off 81 balls, including 6 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Among the Zimbabwean bowlers, Brad Evans and Luke Jungwe took two wickets each. Besides, Raja and Ngarva took one wicket each.

The capital was not very big, 256 runs. However, Bangladesh had a great start in bowling. Pacer Hasan Mahmud showed stormy bowling in the first over. Takudzwanashe Kaitano(0) returned to the dressing room after lbw which was a great delivery from this right-handed pacer. In the next over, Mehidy Hasan Miraj bowled out Tadiwanashe Marumani (1).

Then Wesley Madhevere (1) gave the catch without understanding the third delivery of the fifth over of the innings. In the next delivery, Sikander Raja, who was in great form, bowled out back for a big zero.

After that, wickets kept falling, Innocent Kaia left the field after scoring 10 runs off 22 balls. Tony Munyonga scored 13 runs off 18 balls. Luke Jongwe scored 15 runs off 25 balls. Clive Madande scored 24 runs off 45 balls with the help of 4 fours. Evans was out for 2 runs. In the end, Zimbabwe reached 151 runs with 34 runs from Richard Ngarva and 26 runs from Victor Nyauchi and left the field with a loss.

For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman took 4 wickets. Taijul Islam and Ebadot Hossain took 2 wickets each.
