WI vs NZ (3rd ODI) – Highlights

Yesterday, West Indies and New Zealand faced each other in the 3rd match of the three-match ODI series. West Indies set a huge target by batting first. But that didn’t help much as the Kiwis took the match way with the great performance of all New Zealand players. After batting well for New Zealand, Tom Latham won the man of the match award. The team’s spinning all-rounder Mitchell Santner won the series best award with 4 wickets and 51 runs.

The West Indies cricket team could not win their last series in the World Cup Super League at home, and New Zealand won the last match and won the series as well as a valuable ten points. As a result, the West Indies World Cup ticket has fallen into uncertainty.

All West Indies’ World Cup Super League matches ended with this match. The Caribbean has got 90 points from just nine wins in their scheduled 24 matches, and their current position is seventh in the points table. However, out of the six teams below them, five teams have a chance of getting more than 90 points.

The top eight teams from the Super League will get direct tickets to the World Cup. So now the Caribbean will have to look at the results of others. On the other hand, the Kiwis are very safe with 110 points from 11 wins after playing 12 matches.

Kyle Myers’ century, Nicholas Pooran’s storm, and Shai Hope’s fifty put the hosts up for 301 in the series-deciding final in Barbados. In response, Martin Guptill, Devon Conway, Tom Latham, and Daryl Mitchell’s fifty with the loss of 5 wickets, New Zealand won the match 17 balls earlier.

The two openers scored 156 runs in stormy batting in the first innings. But in the 35th over, Shai Hope made his way to the dressing room with a fifty. Opener Hope scored 51 runs off 100 balls. He also hit 3 fours and 1 six. Then Myers scored a century for the Caribbean. After playing great innings, he was caught out and left the field. 105 runs off 110 balls came from his bat. His innings of 105 were studded with 12 fours and 3 sixes.

Skipper Pooran scored 91 runs off just 55 balls. He had 9 sixes and 4 fours in his great innings. In the end, Alzarri Joseph scored 20 runs off 6 balls. He hit 1 four and two sixes. Also, no one could score more than 4 runs. The remaining six players scored only 13 runs. In the end, they crossed 300 runs with 21 runs extra.

Trent Boult took 3 wickets for New Zealand, and Mitchell Santner took 2 wickets. Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, and James Neesham took 1 wicket each.

While chasing the target of 302 runs given by the West Indies, New Zealand lost the wicket of Finn Allen early. However, the rest of the recognized batters took responsibility, which made the path to victory smooth. Guptill 57 (5 fours and 1 six), Conway 56 (6 fours), Latham 69 (6 fours), and Mitchell played an innings of 63 (6 fours and 1 six).

In the end, Jimmy Neesham came down and played an innings of 34 runs from just 11 balls to win the match. Besides, Finn Allen scored 3 runs and Michael Bracewell scored 14 runs. In the end, they scored 307 runs, including 11 runs extra, and left the field with a victory.

Jason Holder and Yannick Caria took 2 wickets each for West Indies. Alzari Joseph took 1 wicket.
