We can win the Asia Cup: Dasun Shanaka

Before the start of the Asia Cup, Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka announced that he wants to win the Asia Cup for the people of the country in this bad time of the country. At the first match against Afghanistan Sri Lanka lost the match though went very close to win, after that they have won three consecutive matches. In all the three matches they won by chasing big scores.

Team Sri Lanka is playing a different brand of cricket in the Asia Cup. After the group stage, the Sri Lankans secured the final by defeating India, one of the favorites of the tournament, by 6 wickets in their second match in the Super Four. But what is the secret of this success? In the press conference, Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka revealed the secret of their success.

Dasun Shanaka said, “Each win has a different meaning for us. After a win, the confidence in the dressing room increases tremendously”. Referring to the match against India, he said, “The batsmen won that day. Pathum Nishanka and Kushal Mendis started well, Vanuka Rajapakse and I finished. It was a complete team game”.

Praising the bowlers in the tournament, Shanaka added, “The bowlers also bowled well in the tournament. But not in the whole match. Want to give credit to Dilshan and Thikshana. They bowled really well. Hopefully it will be continued in the final.”

Referring to the success of the team, the Lankan captain added, “After the first match, we discussed the match. We know what we can do. After the loss in the first match, we discussed. We told ourselves, we can win the Asia Cup. The cricketers in the team all have confidence in themselves. We are now getting the results. ”
