Twitter Reactions: Sri Lanka get off the mark in WTC 2023-2025 cycle after comprehensive 328-run win in first Test versus Bangladesh

The first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh ended on Monday, March 25 as Dhananjaya de Silva and Co. registered an impressive 328-run win at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. With this win, the Lankan Lions registered their first points in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-2025 cycle.

Bangladesh were in dire straits at the end of Day 3 as they had lost five wickets for just 47 runs in their pursuit of an improbable 511-run target. Mominul Haque and Taijul Islam walked out to the middle on Day 4, looking to show some fight as their chances of getting something out of the encounter were all but gone.

The partnership could last for just a couple of overs today as Kasun Rajitha dismissed Taijul Islam LBW. Mehidy Hasan Miraz joined Mominul and the duo kept the scoreboard ticking. Sri Lanka looked desperate at times in their hunt for a wicket and they burned two reviews as well. Eventually, it was Rajitha, who came back to break the 66-run partnership as Mehidy was caught by Dhananjaya at second slip.

The Sri Lankan pacer bagged his fifth wicket when he dismissed Khaled Ahmed first ball before Lahiru Kumara took the final wicket of Nahid Rana to give Sri Lanka an important win. Mominul remained unbeaten on 87 as the hosts were bowled out for 182. Vishwa Fernando accounted for three wickets, while Kumara chipped in with a couple.

Bangladesh lost the 1st Test against Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 328 runs. The entire batting and fielding in this match was horrible. Bangladesh could not cross 200 runs even once in two innings. Mominul was unbeaten on 87 runs in the second innings. #BANvSL#cricket#Bcb pic.twitter.com/yOqHkDPrrh
