The third and final T20I of the multi-format series between Bangladesh women (BAN-W) and Australia women (AUS-W) saw both sides lock horns at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, on Thursday, April 4.

The clash between both sides began with Australian women coming in to bat first after winning the toss. The visitors got off to a brilliant start as opener Alyssa Healy played a brilliant knock of 45 runs in 29 deliveries, with Beth Mooney adding 10 runs on the board.

In-form Ellyse Perry was sent packing for eight runs as Ashleigh Gardner added 16 runs to the board. As things started to look shaky, Tahlia McGrath’s unbeaten knock in the middle order, scoring 43* runs in 29 deliveries, helped the visitors post a total of 155 runs in the first innings. As for Bangladesh, Nahida Akter was the highest wicket-taker for her side in the first innings, with three wickets each to her name. Shorifa Khatun took one wicket, with Rabeya Khan striking once as well.

All-round bowling performance sees Australia close out T20I series

Aiming to chase down a target of 156 runs, Bangladesh women got off to a horrid start as openers Dilara Akter and Murshida Khatun were dismissed for 12 and one run, respectively. Ritu Moni scored 10 runs, whereas Shorna Akter was dismissed for a duck.

Fahima Khatun was dismissed for 11 runs, with Rabeya Khan adding just one run on the board. Skipper Nigar Sultana was the highest run-getter for her side in the run chase, scoring 32 runs in 31 deliveries. However, her inability to find a suitable batting partner saw Bangladesh women getting folded on a paltry 78 runs, thereby losing the game by 77 runs.

As for Australia women, Tayla Vlaeminck was the highest wicket-taker, with three wickets to her name. Georgia Wareham took two wickets as well, with Megan Schutt, Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, Sophie Molineux, and Annabel Sutherland striking once each.

What really hurts about that innings is that the wicket today is pretty good to bat . Australia scored 47 runs in the last 3 overs . It was all about the intent & sadly the Australian women team isn’t the same anymore #BANvAUS
