Australia and the West Indies continued their tussle on Day 3 of the second Test between both sides. Day 2 of the clash ended with the West Indies having lost one wicket in the second innings, at a score of 13 runs. On Day 3, skipper Kraigg Brathwaite scored 16 runs in 54 deliveries, with Kirk McKenzie adding 41 runs on the board.

Alick Athanaze scored 35 runs as the Windies looked to be in control. The visitors’ middle order put forth a resilient show against the Aussies as Justin Greaves added 33 runs in 60 deliveries. However, Australia’s bowling attack performed magnificently and bundled out the Windies for just 193 runs in the second innings.

Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon were the highest wicket-takers for Australia in the second innings, taking three wickets each. Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc struck once each.

Bundling out for just 193 runs, Australia had a target of 216 runs to win the game and the series. The side came out to bat, with Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja opening the innings.

However, the visitors struck early, as Usman Khawaja was sent packing for just 10 runs in 17 deliveries. Furthermore, Marnus Labuschangne was dismissed for five runs in 12 deliveries. Day 3 of the clash ended with Smith and Cameron Green on strike at 33* and 9* runs, respectively. Both batters will look to pile on the runs and win the game for the hosts.

As for the West Indies, Alzarri Joseph and Justin Greaves were the only wicket-takers with one wicket each. As Day 4 rolls around, the side will hope to dismiss the remaining Australian batters, defeat the side at their fortress Gabba, and register a memorable win.

Can West Indies beat Australia in Brisbane ? Australia looks like confused and imperfect to chase more 187 with 8 Wickets #AUSvWI

It doesn’t matter where you started, but the position at which you end is what matters.#stevensmith #AUSvWI pic.twitter.com/g3dx9qDr4I

Australia needs 168 runs more to win with 8 wickets in hand. Can the West Indies do something wonderful to beat Australia in Gabba?
Just say Yes or No!#AUSvsWI #AUSvWI pic.twitter.com/7iuzfQfsJ7

It was a poor series for Marnus Labuschagne at home #AUSvWI pic.twitter.com/ycfWXMETx4

Marnus Labuschagne batting v West Indies in tests last summer – 502 runs at a average of 167.33
This summer – 19 runs at a average of 6.33.
My prediction of the summer for Marnus to use this series as a superannuation top up to his batting average.
Bombed out there.#AUSvWI

You need balls to block a ball! #AUSvsWI #WIvsAUS #AUSvWI #Cricket #TestCricket#WIvAUS #CricketTwitterpic.twitter.com/AebZJPBpP7

This series vs West Indies: 19 runs at 6.33

This Summer: 226 runs at 28.25

Last 18 tests going back to December 2022: 974 runs at 33.58

Marnus Labuschagne’s place in the side needs to come under some genuine scrutiny. #AUSvWI
