Tim Paine is the former Test captain of the Australian cricket team. He last played in Australian jersey in 2021. Paine was not seen in field cricket after April of the same year. But now it is known that he is going to return to first class cricket. Paine is likely to play for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield.
Regarding Paine’s return, team coach Jeff Vaughan said, ‘We didn’t think that Payne would be available all of a sudden. He came and spoke to the CEO and myself one day and said he’d like to come back and he’s certainly going to play cricket for University. So he’s been training with us most sessions the last five or six weeks. So he’s up for selection.’
During the 2017 Ashes series, Paine sent a pornographic image of himself to a female staff member. The former Aussie captain did not stop with just sending pictures, he also sent offensive messages. Paine also offered to have sex with the woman.
The woman brought that incident to light in 2018. At that time, he filed a sexual harassment complaint against Paine with the Australian Cricket Board and the country’s Human Rights Commission. Based on that complaint, the board started an investigation. However, after admitting his guilt, Pain himself left the leadership of the national team. He also apologized to the family.
This cricketer has played 35 Tests, 35 ODIs and 12 Twenty20s so far in Australia’s jersey. If he does well in first-class cricket, he may get a chance to play for Team Australia. Let’s see, whether this former Aussie captain can represent the country again.
