Born in Christchurch, New Zealand on June 4, 1991, Ben Stokes started his cricket career in England. This all-rounder has become a star in the cricket world by achieving one after another in the English jersey. But the cricket that has given him stardom, did Stokes hate this cricket? He recently said such an explosive information. However, Stokes also told the reason for hatred.
The English Test captain said,
”When I used to play for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), my father loved to watch it. He wanted me to play cricket. But because of cricket, I could not see him for the last time. That’s why I hated cricket.”
Stokes also said, ”England cricket team’s schedule is always busy and we play cricket all year round. As I said earlier, Test cricket is my first priority and everything depends on the Test schedule. Now I am the captain of the team. My responsibility has increased.”
Talking about the IPL, Stokes said, ”I played in the IPL for four years and enjoyed every moment. IPL is a great tournament. Here you get the chance to play with the best players and under the best coaches.”
Stokes recently retired from ODIs due to ICC’s busy cricket schedule. But he is England’s test captain. Stokes expressed his confidence to give his best in this format. On the other hand, in this era of T20, the demand of Stokes is also sky high.
