SRH vs CSK Match Highlights

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has picked up a great 13-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second match of the IPL 2022 Sunday’s double-header at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune thanks to a remarkable innings by Ruturaj Gaikwad. At the same time, SRH has got consecutive defeats.

After winning the toss, SRH captain Kane Williamson decided to field and sent CSK to bat first. Ravindra Jadeja gave up the leadership on his own to be more focused on his game. On the other hand, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, CSK seemed to be fully ignited on the day. Moreover, CSK’s batsmen flooded the scorebook with runs in the first match under his leadership.

Chennai’s two openers Gaikwad and Devon Conway raised a storm from the start after coming down to bat. The duo put together a huge pair of 182 runs in 17.5 overs. Prior to this match, CSK had won only 2 out of 8 matches. When the fear of getting knocked out of the tournament was created, one of the most successful teams in the IPL got belligerent.

CSK’s opener Gaikwad played a devastating inning of 99 off 57 balls. He hit 6 fours and 6 sixes. Conway couldn’t be beaten scoring 85 off 55 balls. He hit 4 sixes with 8 boundaries.

MS Dhoni came down to bat at number three. But he was dismissed to score only 8 off 7 balls. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 1 run. In the end, CSK lost 2 wickets and made 202 runs on the scoreboard. T Natarajan scalped 2 wickets for SRH.

Chasing a huge target of 203 runs, SRH were restricted at 189 for 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs by the decent bowling of the CSK bowlers. SRH’s two openers got off to a good start with 58 runs in 5.4 overs.

But with one ball left in the 6th over, Abhishek Sharma (39) was sent back to the dressing room with the help of Mukesh Chowdhury. Rahul Tripathi was out for zero, the team was in danger and the orange army fell under pressure. As a result, the speed of the run got slowed down a bit.

Aiden Markram, who scored 17 off 10 balls, was picked up by Kiwi spinner Mitchell Santner in the 10th over. At the end of 10 overs, SRH scored 89 runs for 3 wickets. Even then, SRH needed an average of 11.40 runs per over.

Then Nicholas Pooran and Williamson were trying to take the match to the end. But in the 15th over, Williamson fell victim to lbw off Dwaine Pretorius. He scored 47 off 37 balls. SRH needed 72 runs in the last 5 overs to win. At that moment, Pooran was the only hope of the team.

SRH needed 50 runs in the last two overs. Pretorius gave just 12 runs in the 19th over. As a result, SRH needed 38 runs in the last over to win. The team had to do something miraculous in the last over to get a triumph. That did not happen. In the last over, SRH could not win even though Pooran got his half-century smashing 3 sixes on the final over of the match, he got 24 runs from that over.

Pooran played adventurous innings of unbeaten 64 off 33 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes. Mukesh Choudhary snapped up the highest number of 4 wickets for CSK. Mitchell Santner and Dwaine Pretorius also took one wicket each.

Chennai Super Kings are 9th in the points table with 3 wins and 6 losses in 9 matches. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad are now in 4th position with 5 wins and 4 losses in 9 matches.
