Sikandar Raza’s dream fulfilled before retirement

অবসরের আগে সিকান্দার রাজার স্বপ্ন পূরণ

Nowadays, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached a point where a cricketer has one more dream besides playing for his country, playing in the IPL. Sikandar Raza is no exception. He has been waiting for an opportunity to play in the biggest franchise league in the world for a long time. Finally, Raja’s dream is going to be fulfilled. Raja will play IPL for Punjab Kings in the coming season. Raja himself told the media about the story of his dream come true.

Raja was brought in by Punjab for Rs 50 lakh from the IPL mini-auction held in Kochi on Friday. However, this was the Zimbabwean all-rounder’s base price at the auction. Raja got a team in IPL mainly due to good performance with bat and ball this year. He single-handedly led his country in the last Twenty20 World Cup. This cricketer is one of the best performers on Australian soil. It is as if he got a reward by getting a team in IPL.

After getting a team in the IPL, Raja said, his dream is about to come true. He wanted to play at least once in the Indian league before retirement. Raja said, “I have been following the IPL ever since it started. I always thought it would be great to have IPL in my CV. I would have been happy to get an opportunity in any team. But as I am a Punjabi Munda, getting a chance to play for Punjab is a little bit exciting. Very happy. My dream of playing IPL before retirement is fulfilled.”

However, the king was quite nervous until he got the team. He was also in doubt whether he would get the team or not. However, he did not have to be disappointed at the end of the auction. Talking about the situation at that time, Raja said, “During the IPL auction, I tried to remain calm. But I couldn’t. Was excited and nervous. I was going from one room to another. My phone’s internet connection was unstable. And my eyes were wandering again and again. Want to contribute for the team”.

After getting the team, all the worries of Raja flew away in an instant. On the contrary, this big star of the small country lost himself in joy. Meanwhile, apart from IPL, he plays in many other franchise leagues. Raja will play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) even before going to play for Punjab in this year’s IPL. He is also the regular face of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
