Shaheen Afridi is one of the main bowling weapons of Pakistan cricket team. That one name is enough to make opposing batters sleepless. However, his biggest enemy at 22 yards is injury. This Pakistani pacer is tired of fighting with injuries. Shaheen Afridi has been out of the field for a long time due to a knee injury. Could not play in the last Asia Cup. After that, he did not return to the field. At one time this Pakistani pacer had decided to say goodbye to cricket.

Shaheen Afridi was injured while playing the Galle Test in the Sri Lanka series last year. After that, Pakistan played the Asia Cup without him. This Pakistani pacer also rehabbed from London. But the wait to return to 22 yards kept increasing. Of course, after recovering from injury, he played in the T-20 World Cup held in Australia. Shaheen Afridi was also supposed to play in the ongoing BPL in Bangladesh. But Afridi did not come to Bangladesh due to his knee injury not being fully healed.

Shaheen Afridi recently described the situation during the treatment period in an interview. His painful days come up in that description. He was impatient to stay in the hospital bed. The 22-yard return was almost a dream come true for him. He could not even think that he could return to the field.

The Pakistani pacer had decided to quit cricket at one point while fighting with injuries. However, he said that his bowling videos have given him motivation. In the interview, Afridi said, “I had a very bad time. I had a time when I gave up. I couldn’t take it anymore. I thought that’s enough, I’m not retired from cricket. But later I used to watch my bowling videos.  And these videos have given me a lot of motivation.”

22-year-old Shaheen Afridi’s international career is not very long. This young Pakistani pacer made his debut in international cricket in April 2018. Then he made his debut in Test cricket in December. Afridi played his first Test for the national team against New Zealand on 3 December 2018. So far he has played 32 ODIs and 47 T20 matches in Pakistan jersey. He has taken 62 wickets in ODIs and 58 wickets in T20Is.

Finally after a long wait he will be seen in the upcoming PSL after getting rid of the injury. He will play for Lahore Qalandar in Pakistan Super League. This year the ODI World Cup is on Indian soil. Before that, Pakistan wanted a fully fit Afridi. With this year’s PSL, this star of Pakistan’s pace bowling department can give a message to return to international cricket.
