Rohit Sharma on a mission to surpass Chris Gayle

If cricket is a game of making records with bat and ball, then it is someone else’s responsibility to break that record. Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma might be on the top list among those who love this game of record-breaking a little more. This time Indian opener Rohit Sharma is on a mission to surpass the Caribbean star.

The audiences enjoy over boundaries most. In this era of T20, cricket is a game of batsmen rather than bowlers. ‘The Universe Boss’ Gayle is known as the greatest six hitter in cricket. Statistics also admits it . Gayle has a record of 553 sixes in international cricket so far.

Meanwhile, Rohit is first in the race to break Gayle’s record. The Indian skipper, however, has yet to get very close. He is 76 sixes behind Gayle who has hit 477 sixes so far. However, at the pace he is progressing, Rohit’s chances of surpassing Gayle and capturing this record are very bright.

Apart from this, one Pakistani and two New Zealand cricketers are among the top five batsmen who hit the highest number of sixes in international cricket. Shahid Afridi is at number three with 476 sixes. Former Kiwi captain Brendon McCullum at number four has 398 sixes. Martin Guptill at number five has 379 sixes.
