Moeen Ali said he would stay away from Test cricket to focus on limited-overs cricket. Another star spinner Adil Rashid has not played in first-class cricket since 2019. According to a source, both of them will be seen in the English Test team. This is what the newly appointed head coach of the England Test team, Brendon McCullum, wants.

After Rashid’s departure, spinner Jack Leach became a regular member of the English Test team. But now McCullum is looking at Rashid and Moeen. The coach even wants limited-overs cricket star all-rounder Liam Livingstone to play in white. However, nothing is final yet.

McCullum recently told the Daily Mail, “We will consider this. I’m sure Moeen wants to go back and he’s ready to go. The matter will be challenging. No doubt. Although I’m not sure if someone like Rashid will play all the matches throughout the year. ”

Jos Buttler will also return to the English Test team. The wicketkeeper-batsman is currently in great form in the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to the British media, the head coach has already talked to Moeen. Moeen has also agreed to play red-ball for England. If all goes well, he may be seen on the team soon.

McCullum added: “But the fact is that: whether they are our best cricketers, where is the problem to talk with them? Livingstone, Moeen, Rashid all are playing international matches. In other formats, they are quite successful. You would think that their success would come from one format to another.”
