South Africa and Pakistan met in the second T20 match of the series at the Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore) on Saturday night, February 13. South Africa lost the first T20 match after being whitewashed in the Test series. Today the visitors came to the field with the conviction of winning the second match of the series. The Protea bowler Dwaine Pretorius’s superb bowling spell helped South Africa to get a six-wicket victory over the Pakistanis.
South African captain Heinrich Klaasen decided to field after winning the toss and sent Pakistan to bat.
Mohammad Rizwan opened the book of scoring with four off the first ball of the innings. Though the start was good, Pakistan captain Babar Azam fell victim to the lbw trap in the second over of Dwaine Pretorius. Then Proteas bowlers’ bowling became fiery, which was led by Dwaine Pretorius. The hosts were able to score 144 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs with his superb bowling spell. Where Mohammad Rizwan scored the highest 51 runs for the team. Dwaine Pretorius took the highest 5 wickets for the Proteas (5-17, 4 overs).
Proteas opener Janneman Malan(4) returned to the dressing room after being bowled by Shahin Afridi in the second ball of the innings. Smuts (7) lost his wicket in the 3rd over, and it was the same man who made the Proteas worried, Shaheen Afridi. Then the partnership of 77 runs in the 3rd wicket showed them the way to win again. In the end, the Proteas reached the target with six wickets in hand with 3.4 overs left in the stormy batting of David Miller and Proteas captain Heinrich Klaasen. Where Reeza Hendricks (42) and Pite van Biljon (42) scored well for the Proteas. Shaheen Afridi took the highest wicket for Pakistan. (2-18, 3 overs).
South Africa won the match and levelled the three-match T20 series (1-1). The two teams will meet in the third match of the series at Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore) today.
