After Eoin Morgan’s retirement, Jos Buttler is England’s regular captain in white-ball cricket. But Moeen Ali is seen leading in his absence. But to this allrounder, this sudden challenge isn’t unusual. Rather, Moeen enjoyed the sudden leadership. Now on the question of leadership, the English cricketer said, he got the leadership mantra from Mahendra Singh Dhoni himself.

Moeen has been playing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2021. He will play in Dhoni’s team this season as well. Moeen learned leadership skills from Dhoni while playing in the same team. The English all-rounder said that he learned from Dhoni how to keep a cool head and handle the situation even under pressure. He applies it regularly in the field as well.

Moeen talked about his captaincy in an interview recently. He said, “I have played with Dhoni for a long time in IPL. I talk to him on the field and in the dressing room. I have discussed leadership issues with him. I have learned a lot. I have also learned a lot from Dhoni about batting. Playing in Chennai has improved my leadership skills and game. Dhoni has contributed a lot behind this.”

Moeen is also looking forward to playing in the upcoming IPL. He also said that he enjoyed this time with the audience and teammates. The English star also said, “Chennai team is always like a family. I am looking forward to playing the upcoming season. We have many new players in the team. We want to entertain the audience. Playing in IPL always entertains me too. Hope to have a great time like other times.”

However, it is not only Moeen who has benefited from playing in the IPL. Many England players play in this franchise-based T20 league. Moeen said that they have also learned to perform under the pressure of the audience and the pressure of the game. Besides, Moeen feels that by sharing the dressing room with the Indians, the English got to know their playing strategy, strengths and weaknesses easily. The English all-rounder feels that this experience can be used regularly for the national team.
