Luckily Karthik was not born in Pakistan! : Salman Butt

37 years old. At this age, many people leave cricket and take shelter in the commentary room. Many again appeared as cricket analysts on television screens. But Dinesh Karthik is made of a different metal. Even in the evening, there is no sign of age in him! He continues to play with the bravery of a young cricketer!

There has been a debate going on in Indian cricket circles for a long time – whether Karthik will be in the T20 World Cup squad this year or not. After his brilliant performance with the bat in the last IPL, the discussion has spread throughout the cricket world. Many cricket-pundits feel that Karthik should be included in the T20 World Cup squad considering his performance regardless of his age.

This time, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt joined the discussion about Karthik. He thinks that Kartik is very lucky not to have been born in Pakistan, but to have been born in India! But why did he say that? He feels that veterans are not valued in Pakistan cricket.

Discussing about Karthik on his YouTube channel, Butt said, ”Fortunately Dinesh Karthik was born in India. At his age, if he was born in Pakistan, he would not have been able to play domestic cricket at this age.”

Karthik made his debut in the Indian team in 2004. Won T20 World Cup for the team in 2007. Then in 2013, he was a member of the Indian team that won the Champions Trophy. Even after 18 years of debut, Karthik is still shining. On the last Friday against the West Indies in the first T20I, coming down to bat at number seven and scored an unbeaten 41 runs off 19 balls. He also won the Man of the Match award for the team’s 68-run win.

Many are looking at the possibility of India winning the title in this year’s T20 World Cup. One of the reasons for this is the strength of the team’s bench. Many people also say that India can build two teams of equal strength at the same time! Talking about the strength of the Indian team, Butt said, ”The youngsters are playing well. They are very serious about their bench strength. They have made a great team.”

Butt also said, ”Shubman Gill has done well in ODIs. Karthik is very good as a finisher in T20. Apart from this, batsmen like Suryakumar Yadav are improving day by day. There is Shreyas Iyer. Arshdeep is bowling well. All in all, the team is full of talent. ”
