Even before last year’s Asia Cup, Virat Kohli had a run drought with the bat. Kohli, who has not seen a century for almost three years, sat down as if he forgot to score a century! Criticism was not less. But ending the discussion – criticism, the Indian batsman’s bat laughed. He scored runs and scored a century in the Asia Cup. Maintaining that consistency, this time Kohli touched a unique milestone.

Currently, Kohli is busy playing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The right-handed batsman was just 54 runs away from the 25,000-run milestone before going into the second Test of the series in Delhi. A total of 64 (44 and 20) runs came from Kohli’s bat in two innings in that match. And in that, as the sixth batsman in international cricket, he completed twenty-five thousand runs in total.

Kohli played a total of 549 innings to achieve this feat. Earlier, no batsman who had reached the milestone of 25,000 runs could achieve this feat in less innings. The previous record of scoring 25,000 runs in the fewest innings was also held by Kohli’s compatriot cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. The former Indian legend has taken 577 innings. Kohli has topped him now.

On his way to 25,000 runs, Kohli scored centuries in all three formats. Where he scored 8131 runs in Test, 12809 runs in ODI, and 4008 runs in T20. In total, 25010 runs are now adorning the name of the Indian star. Kohli came close to Mahela Jayawardene and Jacques Kallis after crossing 25,000 runs. He may surpass them very soon.

Meanwhile, Sachin is the highest run scorer in international cricket so far. This former Indian batsman scored a total of 34357 runs in three formats. Kumar Sangakkara’s name is second on this list. The former Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batsman has scored a total of 28016 runs in the three formats. Besides, Australia’s Ricky Ponting, who is in third place, has 27483 runs. After touching the milestone of 25 thousand runs, many congratulated Kohli.
