IPL 2022: Top 4 intensive games to come up of the first week

The screening of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is going to commence tomorrow (March 26). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the tournament will be held in a single hub, considering the Covid-19 transmission and the players’ bio-bubble. Where the state of Maharashtra has been designated as the single hub.

The 15th edition of the IPL will have a total of 70 league matches and 4 play-off matches, which will be held over a period of 65 days. A total of four venues have been identified, including three in Mumbai and one in Pune.

The Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai will host 20 matches each and the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and the MCA International Stadium in Pune will host 15 matches each. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the first match of the tournament.

With 10 teams taking part in IPL 2022, the season is expected to be bigger and better. The tournament is expected to heat up from the start. Where spectators can witness some thrilling matches in the first week.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Match 1, 26 March, 20:00 (GMT+6)

After last year’s final, CSK and KKR are going to start their season with the first match of IPL 2022 on March 26. After a disappointing loss in the final last year, KKR will try to make a great start by defeating the 4-time champions in this event.

On the overall head-to-head record, CSK has won 17 out of 26 matches and KKR has triumphed in 9. KKR’s most important win against the Men in Yellow came in the IPL 2012 final when Gautam Gambhir led his team to their first IPL title.

The last time the two teams met at Wankhede Stadium, Andre Russell showed some dashing batting.

Delhi Capitals (DC) vs Mumbai Indians (MI)

The finalists of IPL 2020, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals are known opponents in recent times. The Mumbai Indians won the final then, where Trent Boult’s great spell (3/30) led to a match-winning victory that helped sink a dangerous top-order of Delhi Capitals. Rohit Sharma’s 68-run innings led the Indians to chase down the target set by the opponents and they won their fifth IPL title.

Despite rebranding from Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals, the fate of the team representing the Indian capital city has not changed as they haven’t yet won a title,  although they’ve some outstanding performances in the league.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

RCB and PBKS have had similar kinds of fortunes in the IPL so far. Both teams have had several heartbreaks and misfortunes.

However, RCB is expected to jump into a new era with the new IPL captain. On the other hand, the PBKS squad has also undergone several changes before this year’s tournament. In terms of the stats of the head-to-head, the Kings have won 15 of the 28 matches and the Royal Challengers have won 13.

There is always a feeling of unpredictability between these two teams. Their hunger will be seen throughout the 15th edition of the tournament as they await their first IPL title.

Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

The excitement in the tournament has been on the rise since the BCCI confirmed that there will be two new teams in IPL 2022. Even before being launched as the Titans, the state of Gujarat has been represented as Gujarat Lions in this popular franchise-based league. They are going to start the tournament this time under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.

On the other hand, the Super Giants are also gearing up for the first time in the IPL. The team led by KL Rahul is hopeful of securing some success in their debut season.

There are plenty of stars in this encounter, like Rashid Khan, Quinton de Kock, and Shubman Gill. With this match, the players will try to take their franchises to a new era, and there will be a great level of excitement.
