On Saturday, in the 69th match of IPL 2022, Mumbai Indians (MI) got a breathtaking 5-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) with 5 balls to spare thanks to a great team performance at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After losing the match, DC also left the tournament.

After winning the toss, MI captain Rohit Sharma decided to field and sent off DC to bat first. Opener David Warner could not make it a good performance after batting in such an important match. He left with 5 runs off 6 balls. Mitchell Marsh made their team even more disappointed. He got a Golden Duck for dinner. DC was in danger after his departure with zero runs.

Prithvi Shaw made 24 runs off 23 balls. Captain Rishabh Pant played 33 balls and scored 39 runs. He hit 1 six with 4 boundaries. Sarfaraz Khan made 10 runs off 7 balls.

Rovman Powell made 43 off 34 balls. He hit 4 sixes with 1 boundary. Axar Patel scored 19 runs. Shardul Thakur was out for 4 runs. Kuldeep Yadav remained unbeaten on 1 run. In the end, DC lost 7 wickets in 20 overs and scored 159 runs.

For MI, pacer Jasprit Bumrah took the maximum number of wickets, he took 3 wickets with 25 runs in 4 overs. Ramandeep Singh took two wickets. Mayank Markande and Daniel Sams each took one wicket.

After coming to chase a challenging target of 160 runs, captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just two runs off 13 balls. But in the second wicket, Dewald Brevis made a 51-run partnership with another opener Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan was dismissed for 48 off 35 balls. He hit 3 boundaries and 4 sixes.

After some time, Dewald Brevis returned to the dressing room after playing 33 balls in an innings of 37 runs. He hit 3 sixes with 1 boundary. MI still needs 65 runs from 33 balls to win. At some point in the match, which seemed impossible for MI.

But the team’s Singaporean-born hard hitter batter, Tim David, seemed to change himself into an astonishing player. Playing an astounding innings of 34 off just 11 balls and he led the team to victory. He hit 4 sixes with 2 boundaries.

In the 18th over, Team David was out, but MI did not get any trouble to win. Tilak Varma returned to the dressing room with 21 runs off 17 balls. In the end, they lost 5 wickets and reached the target in 19.1 overs. Ramandeep Singh was unbeaten on 13 off 6 balls.

Shardul Thakur and Anrich Nortje took a maximum of 2 wickets each for DC. Where Nortje gave 37 runs in 4 overs and Shardul gave 32 runs in 3 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took 1 wicket.

Although DC was eliminated from the tournament due to defeat, the biggest gain of MI’s victory was Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They have secured the IPL play-offs as the fourth team in the tournament.

So far, Mumbai Indians have completed their IPL journey from the bottom of the points table with only 4 wins and 8 points in 14 matches. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals left IPL 2022 as the 5th team in the points table with 14 points after 7 wins in 14 matches.
