Injury setback for Shreyas Iyer to take part in IPL 2021

Shreyas Iyer was praised for playing a great inning in the T20 series against England. But a shoulder injury that he suffered in the first match of the ODI series, knocked him out of the rest of the matches.

Not only that, according to the Indian media,the captain of Delhi Capitals is also uncertain to play in the IPL 2021 which will start on April 9. Parth Jindal, one of the owners of the franchise team has also confirmed the news.

Jindal wrote in his tweet, “We feel very bad for our captain, Shreyas Iyer. Stay strong captain. I believe you will recover from the injury and come back better. India needs you in the T20 World Cup.”

According to the scan report, the left shoulder bone of the batsman who played 22 ODIs and 29 T20I matches for India has been displaced.

A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told the media that Shreyas might have to undergo surgery on his left shoulder. Now he is having great pain. He may have to be out of the field for at least four months.

The BCCI source disclosed that Shreyas might be taken to the operation table. Instead of the first part of the IPL, He is now uncertain about the whole IPL season. And if that happens, he will have to stay out of the field for at least four months to get back into the nets.

This, one of the greatest batsmen of India, is also not sure about laying for England’s county team, Lancashire. Lancashire signed him last Monday. Their one-day tournament will start on July 23.

In the absence of Shreyas, Rishabh Pant, co-captain of Delhi Capitals, could lead the team. However, the team has veterans like Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Steven Smith as well.

Last season, Delhi Capitals reached the final under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. They lost to Mumbai Indians in the final. However, Shreyas did a great job with the bat.
