Fixing proposal to Bangladeshi cricketer in World Cup

বিশ্বকাপে বাংলাদেশি ক্রিকেটারকে ফিক্সিংয়ের প্রস্তাব

Currently, Bangladesh women’s cricket team is busy playing T20 World Cup in South Africa. Where the performance of the team is not at all comfortable. The Tigress has already lost to Sri Lanka and Australia in the first two matches. Bangladesh women’s cricket team received another bad news. A Bangladeshi cricketer has received a proposal for fixing. She also got that offer from another Bangladeshi female cricketer. There is a commotion going on in Bangladesh cricket with this.

However, the matter of that fixing proposal did not remain secret. The phone conversation between the cricketer who was going to play in the World Cup and the cricketer who made the offer was leaked. One was telling the other, “I won’t force you. It’s your choice to play or not to play. You can play in this match if you want. If you play well in one match, you can play in the next match (to lose the match). You won’t get caught.”

However, the Bangladeshi cricketer who got the offer did not agree to that proposal. She also requested not to propose such fixing later. Her voice is heard saying, “No friend. Don’t give me these proposals (fixing) anymore. I’m not into this. Please, don’t talk to me again. It won’t work for me. Don’t talk to me about fixing it a second time. It’s my request to you.”

In this context, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan said, “ICC has a separate committee to look into the issue of corruption. Our cricketers are aware of it, they know what to do. If someone has made such a proposal, the cricketers will inform the ICC. We (BCB) cannot comment on the matter at this time.”

It should be noted that the name of the cricketer who received the proposal for fixing is not known. Since the matter has already come to light, it is only a matter of time before it reaches the ears of the ICC. However, how the ICC takes the issue is to be seen. But such bad news in the midst of the poor performance of the team in a big event like the World Cup must be a stress for the cricketers. Team Bangladesh’s first challenge is to overcome that pressure. How much the team can meet that challenge is now the question of crores of rupees. However, the team captain said that their goal is to play in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
