England set the world record for most runs in an ODI

England set a new world record for the highest runs in ODI cricket.

England

England set a new world record for the highest runs in ODI cricket. The highest collection of the previous two teams was also in the possession of the English. This time they surpassed themselves. Eoin Morgan’s team scored 498 runs in the first match of the three-match ODI series against Netherlands on 16 June.

Earlier, in August 2016, England had scored 444 runs for 3 wickets against Pakistan in Nottingham. In June 2016, they lost 6 wickets in Nottingham and set a record of 481 runs. Then Australia was the opponent team. This time with the Netherlands, they broke their own record and set a new world record.

England, however, lost the first wicket by just one run against the Netherlands. After that the destruction of the next batsmen started. Phil Salt and David Malan scored 222 for the second wicket. Both of them picked up centuries before being dismissed. Salt played an innings of 122 runs. And 125 runs came from Malan’s bat.

The Dutch might have breathed a sigh of relief after the departure of Salt at the team’s 223 runs. But Joss Butler pushed it again? As soon as he came to the crease, he attacked the bowlers. Butler’s start is exactly where Salt ended. This right-handed wicket-keeper-batsman turned the bat into a sword and became destructive.

Butler made a pair of 184 runs with Malan for the third wicket. Butler played the best innings of his ODI career in this journey. When Butler returns to the dressing room, facing only 70 balls, he has 182 runs written next to his name. In the end, Liam Livingstone played an innings of 66 runs from 22 balls. England also set a new record of 498 runs.
