Cricket Highlights, 26 Jan: BBL 2021/22 (Challenger)

The Challenger match of the BBL 2021/22 between Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers rolled on the field yesterday.

The Sydney Sixers have won the BBL 2021/22 Challenger match by 4 wickets against the Adelaide Strikers courtesy of Hayden Kerr’s unbeaten innings at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. After losing the toss and getting to bat first, the Strikers lost 4 wickets in 20 overs to score 167 runs.

For the Strikers, Jonathan Wells smashed 5 fours and 1 six. He scored the highest 62 runs off 47 balls, remaining unbeaten. Besides, Ian Cockbain scored 48, and Matt Renshaw was unbeaten on 38 runs. Sean Abbott took the maximum number of 3 wickets for the Sixers, and Steve O’Keefe also took 1 wicket.

Chasing the 168-run target set by the strikers, the Sixers lost 4 wickets for 101 runs. Even though the team needed 67 more runs off 35 balls. Hayden Kerr and Sean Abbott then led the team to victory. Abbott left the crease with a stormy inning of 41 off 20 balls, but Hayden left the field after securing the victory.

Hayden played a devastating inning of 98 off 58 balls, hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes. No one else scored well for the Sixers, Captain Moises Henriques scored 13 and Jake Carder collected 10 runs. Harry Conway and Henry Thornton scalped two wickets apiece for the Strikers, and Peter Siddle took one.

Hayden Kerr was named Player of the Match for his excellent batting. The Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers will also face each other in the final of the BBL 2021/22 on Friday.
