The 5th day of the 2nd Test between the West Indies and Pakistan rolled on the field yesterday. Let’s have a glimpse at the article to know about the exciting happenings of it.
WI vs PAK (2nd Test – Day 5)
Pakistan needed 9 wickets and West Indies 280 runs to win at the start of the fifth day. On the last afternoon of the fourth day, Caribbean supporters were full of hopes as Alzarri Joseph and Kraigg Brathwaite put up a good resistance.
But the Pakistani bowlers did not let that hope grow further. At the start of the fifth day, night watchman Alzarri Joseph (17) got caught by keeper off Shaheen Afridi in a great delivery. Then Hasan Ali quickly picked up Nkrumah Bonner (2) and Roston Chase (0). West Indies lost 3 wickets within 8 runs and practically dropped out of the match.
Later, Jermaine Blackwood (25), Kyle Mayers (32), and Jason Holder (47) wanted to build up resistance. In the interim, the game was stopped due to rain for about an hour but nothing could stop Pakistan’s victory. In the end, the visitors ended the series 1-1 with a big victory of 109 runs.
After taking 6 wickets in the first innings and 4 wickets in the second innings, with a total of 10 wickets the left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi became the player of the match and was also awarded as the player of the series. Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali also picked up three wickets and pacer Hasan Ali scalped two wickets to help the team win.
