The Perth Scorchers have defeated the Melbourne Renegades by 21 runs in the 17th match of the BBL 2021/22 at the Marvel Stadium in Docklands, thanks to great innings by Mitchell Marsh. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Scorchers lost 5 wickets in 20 overs and collected a big score of 206 runs.

With 5 fours and 5 sixes, Marsh top-scored with 86 off 53 balls for the Scorchers. Also, Laurie Evans played a stormy inning of unbeaten 42 off 16 balls towards the end of the innings. Kane Richardson took the most number of 3 wickets, and Will Sutherland and James Pattinson both took 1 wicket each for the Renegades.

The Renegades’ innings came to a halt at 185 after losing five wickets in the allotted 20 overs as the Scorchers bowled brilliantly to defend the huge target of 207 runs. Opener Aaron Finch (68 off 43 balls) and skipper Nic Maddinson (67 off 41 balls) played two great innings for the team. Jake Fraser-McGurk also scored 30 runs. Ashton Agar took the maximum number of 2 wickets for the Scorchers. Mitchell Marsh, Peter Hatzoglou, and Jason Behrendorff took one wicket each.

The Perth Scorchers are at the top of the points table with five wins in a row after winning this match. After losing, Melbourne Renegades are at the bottom of the points table.
