PSL 2022 – Qualifier (Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans)

On Wednesday, the defending champions Multan Sultans defeated Lahore Qalandars by 28 runs in front of a sold-out Gaddafi Stadium crowd to earn their place in the Pakistan Super League 2022 final.

When allowed to bat, Rilee Rossouw and Mohammad Rizwan hit unbeaten half-centuries to help Multan Sultans reach 163 in 20 overs after being reduced to 65 for two at the midway stage. The Lahore Qalandars were riding along at 102 for three in the 14th over before collapsing and finishing at 135 for nine.

While Sultans qualified for the final on Sunday, Lahore Qalandars will meet the winner of Peshawar Zalmi-Islamabad United on Friday for a chance to reach their second title match in three years.

Rossouw hit seven fours and a six in his 42-ball 65 not out, while Mohammad Rizwan hit three fours in his 51-ball 53 not out. Rizwan and Aamer Azmat (33) put up 47 runs for the second wicket, then he and Rossouw put on 113 runs for the third wicket.

Mohammad Hafeez and Samit Patel each grabbed a wicket for the Lahore Qalandars.

In turn, with the loss of Harry Brook (13) from the Lahore Qalandars, they lost six wickets for 33 runs in just over six overs, finishing at 135 for nine.

Fakhar Zaman hit an entertaining 63 from 45 balls with two fours and four sixes, including three successive sixes against Imran Tahir. With Harry Brook, he added 54 runs for the fourth wicket.

With the ball, Shahnawaz Dahani was the star for Multan Sultans. He finished with scores of 19 after taking the wickets of Brook (13), Phil Salt (1), and Shaheen Shah Afridi (1).

David Willey took two wickets for 23 runs, while Asif Afridi and Khushdil Shah took one wicket.
