Cricket Highlights, 19 Nov: BAN vs PAK (1st T20I), IND vs NZ (2nd T20I)

The 1st T20I of the 3-match series between Pakistan and Bangladesh and the 2nd T20I match of the New Zealand tour of India took place yesterday. Continue reading the article to know the interesting happenings of the game.

BAN vs PAK (1st T20I)

In the first T20I match of the series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Friday, the visiting Pakistan won by 4 wickets with 4 balls to spare against the host Bangladesh. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh was able to score 127 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the aggressive bowling of Pakistani bowlers.

Afif Hossain played the highest innings of 36 runs from 34 balls for the hosts. Besides, Nurul Hasan scored 28 runs and Mahedi Hasan remained unbeaten on 30 runs. Fast bowler Hasan Ali took the highest number of 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs for Pakistan. Mohammad Wasim Jr took 2 wickets.

Batting on an easy target of 128, the visitors lost 4 wickets to make 24 runs in 6 overs of the power play with the brilliant bowling of the Tigers. Then in the 5th wicket, Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah’s 56-run partnership brought Pakistan back into the match. These two batsmen returned to the dressing room after playing two impeccable innings of 34 runs.

 

In the end, Shadab Khan (21 off 10 balls) and Mohammad Nawaz (18 off 8 balls) played two stormy innings and Pakistan reached the port of victory losing 6 wickets in 19.2 overs. Taskin Ahmed took the most number of 2 wickets for the Tigers and Mahedi, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam took 1 wicket each.

After winning the match, Pakistan has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The two teams will face each other at the same venue at the same time in the second match of the series today.

IND vs NZ (2nd T20I)

India won the second match of the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand by 7 wickets with 16 balls to spare against the Black Caps at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Friday night. With one match in hand, the Men In Blue have bagged the series 2-0.

After losing the toss and batting first, New Zealand scored 153 runs for losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Glenn Phillips top-scored for the team with 34 off 21 balls. Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell both played two effective innings of 31 runs. For India, Harshal Patel took the highest number of 2 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs.

India’s two openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma got off to a great start after coming down to bat for 154 runs. They picked up 117 runs in the opening partnership. Rahul scored 65 off 49 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Rohit, on the other hand, played a devastating inning of 55 off 36 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes.

In the end, Venkatesh Iyer (12*) and Rishabh Pant (12*) led the team to victory in 17.2 overs. For the Kiwis, the captain Tim Southee took the maximum number of 3 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs.
