BBL 2021/22 – Match 34 (Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers)

The Sydney Sixers have defeated the Brisbane Heat by 27 runs in the 34th match of the BBL 2021/22 courtesy of Daniel Hughes’ great innings at The Gabba in Brisbane. After losing the toss and batting first, the Sixers lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and scored 178 runs.

Daniel Hughes scored the highest 59 runs off 45 balls with seven boundaries for the Sixers. In addition, two effective innings were played by Daniel Christian (32 off 24 balls) and captain Moises Henriques (28 off 18 balls). Michael Neser took the most number of 3 wickets, and Marnus Labuschagne and Mark Steketee took 1 wicket each.

Chasing the challenging target of 179 runs, the Heat lost 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and their innings stopped at 151 runs due to the bowling canon of the Sixers’ bowlers. Max Bryant scored 56 off 55 balls for the team. Jimmy Peirson scored 42 and Chris Lynn scored 19 runs. Hayden Kerr took the maximum number of 3 wickets for the Sixers. Ben Dwarshuis also took 2 wickets.

The Sydney Sixers finished second in the group stage after winning the match. On the other hand, Brisbane finished the season at 7th place in the points table after losing.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 55 (Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Renegades)

The Sydney Thunder has picked up a 1-run victory over the Melbourne Renegades in a close match at the MCG in Melbourne on Wednesday in the second match of the day at BBL 2021/22. After losing the toss, the Thunder lost 8 wickets in 20 overs and scored 170 runs.

For the Thunder, Usman Khawaja played the top-scoring innings of 77 runs off 51 balls with 8 fours and 1 six. Alex Hales scored 44 off 22 balls and Ben Cutting scored 20 off 22 balls. For the Renegades, Cameron Boyce took the maximum number of 5 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Josh Lalor and Zak Evans took 1 wicket each.

Chasing the challenging target of 171 runs, the bowlers of the Thunder bowled brilliantly, and the Renegades lost 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and their innings stopped at 169 runs. Captain Aaron Finch played a crucial inning of 82 runs off 64 balls. Besides, Unmukt Chand scored 29 and Shaun Marsh scored 19 runs. Gurinder Sandhu took the maximum number of 3 wickets for the Thunder. Besides, Tanveer Sangha took 2 wickets and Daniel Sams took 1 wicket.

The Sydney Thunder finished third in the group stage after winning the match. On the other hand, the defeated side, Melbourne Renegades, finished the season remaining at the bottom of the points table.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 56 (Melbourne Stars vs Hobart Hurricanes)

The Melbourne Stars have got a huge 106-run victory over the Hobart Hurricanes in the final match of the group stage of the BBL 2021/22 on Wednesday at the MCG in Melbourne, courtesy of a devastating inning by Glenn Maxwell. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the Stars lost just two wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 273 runs.

For the Stars, Glenn Maxwell hit 22 fours and 4 sixes, he scored an unbeaten 154 runs off 64 balls. As a result, Maxwell now holds the record for the highest individual innings in the history of the BBL. In addition, two stormy innings were played by Marcus Stoinis (75* off 31 balls) and Joe Clarke (35 off 18 balls). Jordan Thompson and Josh Kann took one wicket each for the Hurricanes.

Chasing an impossible target of 274 runs, the Hurricanes lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and stopped at 167 runs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Ben McDermott played the team’s highest innings of 55 off 33 balls. Besides, D Arcy Short scored 41* and Peter Handscomb scored 28 runs. Brody Couch took the maximum number of 3 wickets for the Stars.

The Melbourne Stars finished the season from 6th place in the points table by winning this match. On the other hand, Hobart Hurricanes finished the first leg as fifth in the points table.
