BBL 2021/22 – Match 47 (Sydney Thunder vs Hobart Hurricanes)

The Hobart Hurricanes have picked up a 9-run victory over the Sydney Thunder at the Marvel Stadium in the Docklands in the 47th BBL 2021/22. Hurricanes won the toss and elected to bat first; they lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and collected 177 runs.

For the Hurricanes, skipper Matthew Wade played a devastating 83-run innings off 54 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes staying unbeaten. Besides, Caleb Jewell scored 51 runs from 32 balls. Gurinder Sandhu took the maximum number of 2 wickets for the Thunder.

Chasing a challenging target of 178 runs, the Thunder’s innings came to a halt at 168 runs after losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs under the Hurricanes bowlers’ controlled bowling. Opener Alex Hales played the highest innings of 38 runs from 17 balls. Captain Jason Sangha scored 31 off 19 balls and Nathan McAndrew scored 30 off 20 balls. Riley Meredith and Jordan Thompson took the highest number of 3 wickets each for the Hurricanes. Besides, Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets, and D’Arcy Short took 1 wicket each.

Hobart Hurricanes moved up to 4th place in the points table after winning this match. On the other hand, Sydney Thunder is now in 2nd place on the points table after losing.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 48 (Melbourne Renegades vs Melbourne Stars)

In the 48th match of BBL 2021/22, Melbourne Stars have got a big victory of 6 wickets with 33 balls in hand against Melbourne Renegades courtesy of Glenn Maxwell’s great innings at Marvel Stadium in Docklands. Due to the Stars’ bowling canon, the Renegades scored 122 runs to lose seven wickets in 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first.

Aaron Finch top-scored with 45 off 44 balls for the Renegades, and Jake Fraser-McGurk also made 32 off 39 balls. Apart from these two, no other batsman could make a double-digit score for the Renegades. For the Stars, Qais Ahmad, Adam Zampa, and Haris Rauf took the maximum number of two wickets each. Besides, Brody Couch took 1 wicket.

Chasing an easy target of 123 runs, the Stars lost 4 wickets and reached the port of victory in just 14.3 overs. Glenn Maxwell played a stormy inning of 68 runs playing 45 balls with 8 fours and 1 six for the team, he remained unbeaten on the day. Joe Burns scored 17 and Hilton Cartwright scored 12 runs. Kane Richardson, Cameron Boyce, Zahir Khan, and Josh Lalor took one wicket for the Renegades.

After winning this match, the Melbourne Stars have risen to 5th place in the points table. On the other hand, the losing side, Melbourne Renegades are now at the bottom of the points table.

SA vs IND (3rd Test – Day 3)

The Indian cricket team finished the second day, losing two wickets and collecting 57 runs, and they came to the field on the third day morning with Virat Kohli (14) and Cheteshwar Pujara (9) at the crease. Pujara returned to the dressing room after falling victim to Marco Jansen in the day’s second ball. Lungi Ngidi sent captain Virat Kohli to the pavilion, scoring 29 off 143 balls.

After that, Rishabh Pant picked up the fourth century of his career with 133 balls. In the end, he remained unbeaten with 100 runs off 139 balls. However, except Pant, Kohli, and KL Rahul, no other Indian batsman has made a double-digit score. As a result, the visitors were restricted to 198 runs.

For the Proteas, Marco Jansen took the maximum number of 4 wickets for 36 runs in 19.3 overs. Besides, Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets each. 

Batting for the target of 212 runs the visitors, the host South Africa ended the third day’s play by collecting 101 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Aiden Markram scored 16 runs and captain Dean Elgar scored 30 runs and returned to the dressing room. On the other hand, Keegan Petersen will come on the field to win the fourth day with 48 off 61 balls.
