Cricket Highlights, 13 Feb: PSL 2022 (Match 19 & Match 20)

PSL 2022 – Match 19 (Peshawar Zalmi vs Karachi Kings)

In the 19th match of PSL 2022, Peshawar Zalmi won by 55 runs against Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. After losing the toss and coming down to bat first, Zalmi scored 193 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. 

For Zalmi, opener Hazratullah Zazai top-scored with 52 off 42 balls. Another opener Mohammad Haris played a devastating inning of 49 off 27 balls smashing 3 fours and 4 sixes. Shoaib Malik (31 off 21 balls) and Ben Cutting (26 off 15 balls) also played two effective innings for the team. Chris Jordan took the most number of 3 wickets for the Kings.

Chasing the big target of 194 runs, the Kings’ innings came to a halt after losing 6 wickets for 138 runs in the controlled bowling of Zalmi’s bowlers. Captain Babar Azam scored the highest 59 runs from 46 balls for the team. Wicketkeeper-batsman Joe Clarke also scored 26 runs. Salman Irshad and Wahab Riaz took the maximum number of 2 wickets each for the Zalmi. Mohammad Umar and Liam Livingstone took one wicket each.

After winning this match, Peshawar Zalmi remained at 5th position in the points table. On the other hand, Karachi Kings are still at the bottom of the points table after being defeated in their 6th match in a row.

PSL 2022 – Match 20 (Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators)

The Lahore Qalandars have picked up a huge 8-wicket win over Quetta Gladiators at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in the second match of Sunday’s doubleheader in the PSL 2022. After losing the toss and getting to bat first, the Gladiators were able to score 141 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the great bowling of the Qalandars’ bowlers.

For the Gladiators, Iftikhar Ahmed top-scored with 52 off 39 balls. In addition, Umar Akmal (25) and Hassan Khan (17) played two short innings to take the run-wheel of the team forward. For the Qalandars, Shaheen Afridi and David Wiese took the maximum number of two wickets each. Rashid Khan and Haris Rauf took 1 wicket each.

Chasing an easy target of 142 runs, the Qalandars berthed at the port of victory in 17.4 overs, losing just two wickets. In 4 fours and 1 six for the team, Kamran Ghulam played a great innings of unbeaten 55 runs from 39 balls. Fakhar Zaman scored 53 runs off 42 balls to play a big role in the team’s victory as well. Noor Ahmad and Ghulam Mudassar took one wicket each for the Gladiators.

After winning this match, Lahore Qalandars rose to 2nd place in the points table. On the other hand, Quetta Gladiators are at 4th position in the points table after the debacle.
