BBL 2021/22 – Match 27 (Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Stars)

Perth Scorchers have defeated Melbourne Stars by 47 runs in the 27th match of BBL 2021/22 at the GMHBA Stadium in Geelong. Scorchers won the toss and chose to bat first, losing only three wickets in 20 overs while scoring a huge 196 runs.

For the Scorchers, Laurie Evans played a devastating 69-run innings off 46 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes. Ashton Turner was unbeaten on 47 off 26 balls and Nick Hobson scored 46 off 36 balls. Haris Rauf snapped up 2 wickets and Adam Zampa took 1 wicket for the Stars.

Chasing a huge target of 197 runs, the Stars lost 9 wickets in 20 overs under the controlled bowling of the Scorchers bowlers and their innings stopped at 149 runs. Beau Webster, the opener, played the highest innings of 63 runs from 47 balls for the team. Joe Burns scored 20 and Joe Clarke scored 17 runs. Matthew Kelly took the highest number of 4 wickets for the Scorchers.

After winning this match, Perth Scorchers retained the top spot in the points table as usual. On the other hand, the Melbourne Stars are now in 7th place in the points table after the debacle.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 45 (Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Sixers)

The Sydney Sixers have defeated the Melbourne Renegades by 45 runs in the 45th match of the BBL 2021/22 at the GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, courtesy of a great bowling performance by Ben Dwarshuis. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Sixers lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and collected 150 runs.

For the Sixers, Moises Henriques top-scored with 49 off 35 balls hitting 4 fours and 1 six. Jack Edwards (40 off 34 balls) and Daniel Christian (22 off 21 balls) also played two effective innings. Cameron Boyce and Kane Richardson took two wickets each for Renegades.

Coming down to chase the challenging target of 151 runs, the Renegades’ innings came to a halt when the Sixers bowled aggressively and Renegades could score 105 runs in 17 overs. Shaun Marsh played the highest innings of 39 runs from 36 balls for the team. Sam Harper and Kane Richardson both scored 15 runs. Ben Dwarshuis took the maximum number of 5 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs for the Sixers. Sean Abbott also took 2 wickets.

After winning this match, the Sydney Sixers are in 3rd place in the points table. The Melbourne Renegades, on the other hand, are now 6th on the points table.

NZ vs BAN (2nd Test – Day 3)

In the second and final Test in Christchurch, Bangladesh has lost the game to New Zealand by an innings and 117 runs. Liton Das fought alone in the second innings, and however, he couldn’t save the match. The loss of the Tigers led to a 1-1 draw in the two-match Test series.

At the beginning of the third day, New Zealand sent Bangladesh to bat to follow on. The Bangladesh cricket team, which started the second innings with 395 runs behind the Kiwis, was restricted to 278 runs. Liton Das played a fighting inning of 102 off 114 balls. Besides, captain Mominul Haque scored 37, and Nurul Hasan scored 36 runs.

After Bangladesh lost 9 wickets, Kiwi superstar Ross Taylor came down to bowl in the last Test match of his career. Ebadot Hossain (4) was his victim in the third ball of the over. The New Zealand legend ended his career by writing his name in the pages of history with picking up a wicket in the last ball of the last Test with an incredible figure (0.3-0-0-1).

Kyle Jamieson also took 4 wickets for New Zealand in the second innings. Neil Wagner took 3 wickets, and Daryl Mitchell and Tim Southee scalped 1 wicket each. Kiwi captain Tom Latham has been named Player of the Match for his great 252-run innings. Kiwi batsman Devon Conway has been named Player of the Series.
