BBL 2021/22 – Match 8 (Sydney Sixers vs Hobart Hurricanes)

The Hobart Hurricanes have picked up a huge 44-run victory over the Sydney Sixers in the 8th match of the BBL 2021/22, courtesy of Matthew Wade’s devastating innings at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Hurricanes won the toss and elected to bat first, and they lost 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs to collect a big score of 213 runs.

Hurricanes picked up 111 runs in the opening partnership. Where Wade alone scored 93 runs off 46 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes. Caleb Jewell then came on the wicket and played a stormy inning of 42 runs from 23 balls. Another opener, D’Arcy Short, left the field with an unbeaten 73 off 51 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Tom Curran and Chris Jordan took one wicket each for the Sixers.

Rain interrupted the second innings of the match. As a result, the target of the sixes was 196 runs in 18 overs. But chasing this challenging target, they lost 4 wickets and their innings came to a halt at 151 runs—Wicket-keeper-batsman Josh Philippe top-scored with 72 off 46 balls. In addition, James Vince and captain Moises Henriques both played 2 innings of 26 runs. Joel Paris took the maximum number of 3 wickets and Nathan Ellis took 1 wicket for the Hurricanes.

After winning this match, Hobart Hurricanes rose to 4th place in the points table. But defeated Sydney Sixers are still at the top of the points table.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 9 (Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers)

In the 9th match of BBL 2021/22, Perth Scorchers have won 49 runs against Adelaide Strikers courtesy of Colin Munro’s great century at The Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Scorchers lost 1 wicket in the allotted 20 overs and collected a big score of 195 runs.

For the Scorchers, Colin Munro played a devastating inning of unbeaten 114 off 73 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes. Cameron Bancroft scored 45 and Ashton Turner 14 runs.

Coming down to chase the huge target of 196 runs, the strikers lost ten wickets in 17.5 overs and were restricted by scoring only 146 runs. Matthew Short scored the highest 63 runs off 47 balls for the team. Thomas Kelly scored 26 and Jake Weatherald 17 runs. Andrew Tye and Jason Behrendorff took the maximum number of 3 wickets each for the Scorchers.

After winning this match, Perth Scorchers have risen to 2nd place in the points table. On the other hand, the Adelaide Strikers dropped to third place in the points table.

AUS vs ENG (1st Test – Day 3)

England cricket team scored 220 runs for the loss of two wickets at the end of the third day, they came to the field on the morning of the fourth day with Joe Root (86) and Dawid Malan (80) at the crease. But the English were bowled out for 297 by the decent spell of the Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon.

At the beginning of the fourth day, he sent off Dawid Malan (72) to the dressing room. Cameron Green then picked up the wicket of Joe Root (89). Then Ben Stokes returned to the pavilion after scoring 14 off 49 balls after falling victim to Pat Cummins. After a while, Ollie Pope was dismissed for just 4 runs off the Lyon.

Joss Buttler was England’s biggest power in the middle order. But he returned to the pavilion with 23 runs off 39 balls after being caught behind the wicket by Josh Hazlewood. Cameron Green picked up the wicket of Chris Woakes (16). The Lyon stopped England’s innings with 297 runs by returning Ollie Robinson and Mark Wood.

Nathan Lyon took the maximum number of 4 wickets. Pat Cummins and Cameron Green took two wickets each, while Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood took one wicket each.

Chasing the target of only 20 runs, Australia reached the target by losing 1 wicket in 5.1 overs. Pat Cummins won the first Test of the Ashes series by a huge margin of 9 wickets.
