Cricket Highlights, 09 Jul: ZIM vs BAN (Only Test–Day 3), WI vs AUS (1st T20I)

 

The Day-3 of the one-off Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and the 1st T20I of the 5-match series between West Indies and Australia rolled on the field yesterday and today respectively. Let’s have a glimpse at the article to know about the interesting happenings of the days’ games.

ZIM vs BAN (Only Test – Day 3)

Zimbabwe lost one wicket to score 114 at the end of the second day, they came to the field on the morning of the third day along with Brendan Taylor (37) and Takudzwanashe Kaitano (33). The pair scored 115 runs. Spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz brought the first success of the 3rd day for Bangladesh. He picked up the wicket of dangerous batsman Brendan Taylor (81).

At the other end, opener Kaitano picked up a half-century in his debut match. Dion Myers, who came down to bat at No. 4, scored 49 runs. In the end, Kaitano (87) returned to the pavilion after losing his wicket to Miraz. Shakib sent off Myers, who scored 27 runs, to the dressing room. Shakib then sent off Timycen Maruma back to the pavilion before scoring a run.

Shakib-Miraz’s great bowling ended Zimbabwe’s first innings with 276 runs. Where Bangladesh got a lead of 192 runs. Miraz has got fifer for the eighth time in his career. The off-spinner took 5 wickets conceding 82 runs. Shakib took 4 wickets giving away equal runs. Taskin took the remaining one wicket.

In reply, Tiger openers Saif Hassan and Shadman Islam did not allow the team to be in any danger after batting in the last afternoon. They scored 45 runs without losing their wickets in 17 overs. Saif (20*) and Sadman (22*) finished the third day remaining unbeaten, the Tigers are 237 runs ahead of the hosts.

WI vs AUS (1st T20I)

The host West Indies won the first match of the five-match T20I series against Australia by 18 runs at the Darren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia.

After losing the toss and batting first, West Indies made 145 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. The Caribbeans had to play 59 balls to score the first 50 runs. In the end, Andre Russell’s 51 runs off 28 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes took the hosts’ score to 145 runs. Lendl Simmons also made 27 runs from 28 balls. Josh Hazlewood (3-12, 4 overs) was the highest wicket-taker for the Aussies.

Requiring 146 runs to win, Aaron Finch’s team was bowled out for 127 in 16 overs. But the Aussies scored 89 runs before the end of 8 overs. Then the batting disaster started. The Aussies’ innings ended at 127. The last 5 wickets fell in just 10 runs within 117 to 127. Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 51 off 31 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Matthew Wade made 33 off 14 balls.

Obed McCoy was the man of the match for the Caribbeans with 26 runs in 4 overs and took the maximum of 4 wickets. Hayden Walsh (3-23, 4 overs) bowled the best of his career.
