The 31st match of the BBL 2021/22 between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers, the 32nd match of the BBL 2021/22 between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers, and the 2nd day of the 1st Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh rolled on the field yesterday. BBL 2021/22 – Match 31 (Melbourne Stars vs Perth Scorchers)

Perth Scorchers have defeated Melbourne Stars by 50 runs in the 31st match of BBL 2021/22 at the CitiPower Centre in St. Kilda. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Scorchers lost 8 wickets in 20 overs and collected 180 runs.

For the Scorchers, Kurtis Patterson hit four fours and two sixes to score the highest 54 runs for the team playing 39 balls. Colin Munro scored 40 off 20 balls and Ashton Turner scored 27 off 19 balls. Qais Ahmad and Haris Rauf took the maximum number of 2 wickets each for the Stars.

The Stars were bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs by the Scorchers’ bowlers after coming down to chase the big target of 181 runs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Joe Clarke played the highest innings of 52 off 32 balls for the team. Tom Rogers also scored 32 runs. Tymal Mills took the maximum number of 3 wickets for the Scorchers. In addition, Andrew Tye and Peter Hatzoglou took two wickets each.

The Perth Scorchers have risen to the top of the points table after winning this match. The Melbourne Stars, on the other hand, are now at 7th place in the points table after losing.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 32 (Sydney Thunder vs Adelaide Strikers)

The Sydney Thunder has defeated the Adelaide Strikers by 28 runs in the 32nd match of the BBL 2021/22 at the Sydney Showground Stadium thanks to a great inning by Matthew Gilkes. Thunder won the toss and elected to bat first, they lost 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and collected 172 runs.

For the Thunder, Matthew Gilkes played a devastating inning of 93 off 57 balls hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes. Ben Cutting also made 34 off 25 balls. Captain Peter Siddle and Wes Agar picked up the maximum number of 3 wickets each for the Strikers.

Chasing the challenging target of 173 runs, the Strikers were bowled out for 144 in 19.1 overs by the great bowling of Thunder’s bowlers. Wicketkeeper-batsman Harry Nielsen top-scored with 39 off 31 balls. Matt Renshaw also scored 30 runs. Mohammad Hasnain took the maximum number of 3 wickets for the Thunder. Besides, Jason Sangha and Saqib Mahmood took 2 wickets each.

After winning this match, Sydney Thunder has risen to 3rd place in the points table. On the other hand, The Adelaide Strikers are now at the bottom of the points table.

NZ vs BAN (1st Test – Day 2)

In the first Test between the host New Zealand and Bangladesh, New Zealand started the second day’s play with 258 runs for 5 wickets. The Kiwis lost the last 5 wickets when they added more than 70 runs to their board due to the bowling cannon of Bangladeshi bowlers. Henry Nicholls scored the highest 75 runs for the Black Caps on the 2nd day. Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan took the highest number of 3 wickets each for the visitors. Besides, Mominul Haque took 2 wickets and Ebadot Hossain took 1 wicket each.

Batting in reply to the hosts’ 328 runs, Bangladesh finished the second day with 175 for two wickets. Mahmudul Hasan Joy is unbeaten on 70 and captain Mominul Haque is unbeaten on 8. Openers Shadman Islam (22) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (64) returned to the dressing room. Left-arm pacer Neil Wagner took two wickets for the Kiwis. Bangladesh will take the field on the third day with 8 wickets in hand, trailing behind by 153 runs.
