Yesterday (Thursday) Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades met in the 3rd match of BBL 2022/23. Melbourne Renegades scored a narrowly trivial target in the scheduled 20 overs after batting first in that match. But in the 2nd innings, Brisbane Heat could not reach the target as the scheduled 20 overs ended and left the field with a loss. Also, Melbourne Renegades are at the 2nd place in the points table after winning the 1st match and Brisbane Heat are at the 7th place after losing the match. Besides, Nic Maddinson won the man of the match title for Melbourne Renegades due to his excellent batting.

After winning the toss, Brisbane Heat chose to bowl first and sent off the Melbourne Renegades to bat. Batting first, Nic Maddinson and Sam Harper started well. They took the team’s run to 65 runs in 6 overs. But then the decimation started, Sam Harper was caught out on the 1st ball of the 7th over and left the field. He made 21 runs off 15 balls with the help of 2 fours before getting out. After that there was Nic Maddinson at one end of the field but regular wickets kept falling from the other end. In the 8th over, Jack Fraser, who scored 3 runs off 6 balls, left the field. Two more wickets fell in the 10th over, Aaron Finch (4 off 7 balls) and Jonathan Wells (1 run off 3 balls). Then Andre Russell came into the field, he and Nic Maddinson took the team’s 78 runs to 156 runs. In the meantime, top run scorer for Melbourne Renegades Nic Maddinson returned to the dressing room. He scored 87 runs off 49 balls with the help of 10 fours and 3 sixes before leaving the field. Then Akeal Hossain came down and scored only 1 run off 7 balls. On the other hand, Andre Russell left the field after being caught out on the 1st ball of the 20th over. He scored 35 runs off 28 balls. Besides, Will Sutherland was unbeaten on 1 run and Tom Rogers was unbeaten on 5 runs. In the end, Melbourne Renegades lost 7 wickets with 8 extra runs and scored 166 runs.

Matthew Kuhnemann took 3 wickets for 32 runs in 4 overs for Brisbane Heat. James Bazley took 2 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. In addition, Mitchell Swepson and Mark Steketee took 1 wicket each.

Batting for a target of 167 runs, Brisbane Heat’s innings stopped at 144 runs after losing 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Their captain Jimmy Pearson scored the most runs for them. Scored 43 runs off 30 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes. Colin Munro scored 35 runs off 30 balls. He also hit 3 fours and 1 six. Ross Whiteley was unbeaten on 28 off 18 balls, with 1 six. James Bazley scored 19 runs off 20 balls. Besides, Max Bryant hit Golden Duck, Josh Brown scored 7 runs off 10 balls, and Sam Billings scored 6 runs off 10 balls. In the end, they cannot reach the target with 6 extra runs.

Akeal Hossain took 3 wickets with 15 runs in 4 overs for Melbourne Renegades. Besides, Tom Rogers and Andre Russell took 1 wicket each.
