BPL 2022 Draft: Three Bangladeshi experienced players Mashrafe, Tamim, and Mahmudullah to play for Dhaka

Mahmudullah Riyad, Tamim Iqbal, and Mashrafe Mortaza have signed for the same BPL franchise Dhaka for the first time and will play in the upcoming season. Tamim and Mashrafe are two of the first three players to be bought by Dhaka, and the only direct signing was Mahumudullah.

The initial bidders, Rupa Fabrics Limited and Marn Steel Limited had to transfer ownership of the Dhaka franchise overnight after failing to pay the pre-tournament fee of BDT five crore (approx 583,000 USD). According to reports, the BCB owns the Dhaka team, and the chief selector Habibul Bashar was seen bidding for the players during the draft.

As per the rules, one Bangladeshi and three foreign players could be roped in by the franchises directly to the team from outside the draft. Shakib Al Hasan has been included in the Fortune Barishal franchise directly as a Bangladeshi player. Dhaka has taken T20I captain Mahmudullah. Khulna Tigers franchise has taken Mushfiqur Rahim. Comilla Victorians have taken Mustafizur Rahman. Sylhet Sunrisers have taken Taskin Ahmed. Besides, Chittagong Challengers have included Nasum Ahmed in the team.

Veteran Chris Gayle, one of the familiar faces of foreign players, has signed a contract in Fortune Barishal, while Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali have been signed by Cumilla Victorians. Dinesh Chandimal has joined the Sylhet Sunrisers team.
