Boucher remains in charge until his term expires

Allegations of racism surfaced against South Africa coach Mark Boucher. It was alleged that practising his power, director Graeme Smith has appointed him (Bouncer) the head coach for the South Africa team, though he did not have prescribed qualifications. The allegations against Boucher have not been substantiated. Cricket South Africa finally announced on Sunday that Boucher would complete his contract. So, Boucher will be the coach of South Africa until the completion of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Former South African wicketkeeper-batsman Boucher has been accused of racism by his former teammate Paul Adams. Former spinner Adams complained that Boucher was one of the cricketers in the national team who called him by a perverted name. Not only that, but former assistant coach Enoch Enkoui also accused Boucher of discriminatory behaviour. Boucher, however, denied both allegations. He was eventually acquitted of all charges of racism by the South African Cricket Board.

The Justice and Nation Building (SJN) division board has filed allegations of racism against several former South African cricketers. That list included South African coach Mark Boucher, former captain AB de Villiers, and South African Cricket Board chief Smith.

Following the incident, Cricket South Africa chairman Laosan Naidu asked everyone in the country to support Boucher and the cricket team. Regarding Boucher, he said, “We want to move forward with Boucher. Hopefully, everyone in the country will be with our cricket team and will continue to support us as before. We believe that our team can reach the top of all formats to achieve maximum success. ”

The SJN commission, led by Dumisa Entasebaza, in its 235-page report in December last year, accused Smith and current head coach Mark Boucher and former captain AB de Villiers of being involved in racial discrimination. The CSA then launched a formal investigation. Smith has already been acquitted, and Boucher was later released.
