Bangladeshi star-pacer Taskin set to miss rest part of the BPL due to back injury

According to Sylhet Sunrisers, Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out from the rest of the BPL due to a back injury. Taskin missed the last two matches for the franchise due to injury. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that he will be available for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Afghanistan.

BCB’s cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus said that the franchise had agreed to send Taskin to Dhaka, and now Taskin is feeling better. He added that Taskin would probably start bowling later this week.

The physio also told Jalal Yunus that there was enough time for Taskin to recover before the Afghanistan series. So the BCB’s chairman of cricket operations thinks that Taskin will be ready for the ODI series.

The condition of Sylhet Sunrisers in this year’s BPL is not good at all. The team has won only one of the six matches they’ve played, and their standing is at the lowest position on the points table list. Taskin’s dismissal is undoubtedly a significant blow to the team in such a condition.

Taskin took five wickets at an average of 23.20 in four matches for the Sylhet Sunrisers. However, another pacer, AKS Swadhin, who has played only three T20 games so far, has been named in the Sunrisers franchise squad to replace him.

After a three-year break, Taskin has completed one year of international cricket. During this time, he has received many accolades for his fitness and competition. Last month, he was also a member of Bangladesh’s daring Test-winning team against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui.

The ODI series against Afghanistan will be part of the World Cup Super League, held on 23, 25, and 28 February in Chattogram. The two T20I matches will be played on March 3 and 5 in Dhaka, respectively. Taskin is surely eying to be completely fit for those matches and perform well for his team.
