Bangladesh would have been in Sri Lanka’s place if they had done no mistake: Nazmul Hasan Papon

Shakib Al Hasan went to play Asia Cup announcing a new brand of cricket. But Bangladesh was eliminated from the group stage. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka won Sunday’s final against Pakistan. Team Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup for the sixth time.

On the day of the final, BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon watched the game sitting in the gallery. In an interview with the media, Papon said, “In cricket, you have to take advantage of opportunities. Sri Lanka has done that.”

He also thinks that the match is lost due to minor mistakes. Papon added, “For example, India missed a catch and got out of the tournament. Pakistan missed a catch. We missed a catch. Till we don’t fix the small mistakes, it will remain like this.”

India exited after losing to Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage. Pakistan eventually came close to the title but lost to Sri Lanka. Bangladesh lost to Sri Lanka in the group stage.

However, the BCB president did not find a reason for not winning that match against Sri Lanka. He thinks Bangladesh would have been in Sri Lanka’s place if they had won the match with Sri Lanka. In this context, Papon said,

“ There was no reason to win the match against Sri Lanka. If we could win that match, the Asia Cup winning chance also could come to us. But everything depends on the on-field performances of the players. But the team is very Good.”

The T20 World Cup will be held in Australia from October 16. The Bangladesh team has planned to organize the team ahead of the World Cup. Shakib’s team has already started the camp under Technical Consultant Sridharan Sriram. Papon said their main goal is to play well in the World Cup. Will Shakib and Co do this?
