Bangladesh vs West Indies Match Highlights, 1st Test (Day 5): West Indies got an incredible glory by a fantastic performance of Kyle Mayers

At the end of the fourth day, the West Indies lost three wickets for 110 runs and fell behind by 285 runs. Even then, no one understood that at the end of the day, the Caribbeans would reach the doorstep of a big target of 395 runs. But in Kyle Meyers’ debut Test, Bangladesh had to leave the field with a record of the double century in the 4th innings. Kyle Meyers led the team to an incredible three-wicket win with unbeaten innings of 210 off 310 balls. With this victory, the West Indies team took the record of winning the most runs in the Tests on Asian soil.

Bonner opened the scoring with four hits to Mehidy in the first ball of the innings in the morning. Then Kyle Meyers picked up the first half-century of his career with 89 balls. The batting philosophy of the Caribbean batsmen throughout the innings was worth watching. Defensive batting tactics are used by the Bangladeshi bowlers throughout the day. The hosts could not take any wicket till the tea break. The West Indies started to move forward step by step on the winning ladder as the ground was tightened on the wicket. The visitors went to the lunch break with 197 runs for three wickets.

On his return, Bonner picked up the first fifty of his career off 164 balls. After a while, Kyle Meyers took the first century of his career off 178 balls by hitting four by Mustafizur. Then West Indies went to the tea break with 119 runs away from victory with seven wickets in hand.

Coming from the break, Taijul Islam picked up the wicket of Bonar (86) by trapping LBW. Bowler Nayeem Hasan then bowled Jermaine Blackwood (9). But Kyle Meyers was moving fast towards victory from the other end of the wicket with 150 runs off 261 balls. Then in his debut Test, the Caribbeans reached the brink of victory with a record-breaking double century in the 4th innings. After that, Taijul and Mehidy got one wicket each but the hosts could not escape the shame of defeat.

Mehidy Hasan (4-113, 35), Taijul Islam (2-91, 45) and Nayeem Hasan (1-105, 34.3) took wickets for Bangladesh. In all, Bangladesh lost the chance to get 60 points in the Test Championship from Chattogram Test.
