Australia’s ODI captaincy on the shoulders of Pat Cummins

Now that question is over, the leadership of Aussie’s ODI team has fallen on the shoulders of Pat Cummins. The Australian Cricket Board announced the appointment of Cummins as the captain on Tuesday.

After giving the captaincy to Cummins, the chief selector of the board George Bailey said, “After taking the captaincy of the Australia Test team, Cummins has done a great job. This time he got the captaincy of the ODI team. We look forward to seeing how Australia performs under his leadership in the 2023 ODI World Cup on Indian soil.’

Meanwhile, Cummins is very excited to have the leadership responsibility in the colorful outfit. Expressing his feelings, he said, ”I thoroughly enjoyed playing under Aaron Finch. I learned a lot under his leadership. It is very difficult to fill his gap. But we are very fortunate to have a very experienced ODI team.”

It should be noted that Finch suddenly retired from ODI cricket a few months ago. Since then the discussion about the new captain started. Although Steven Smith, David Warner’s name came up in the discussion, Australia ultimately trusted Cummins. Cummins’ first assignment was on 17 November, against England.
