Ashwin turns off TV while ODI cricket is telecated ? 

ODI cricket has lost its thrill. The sweetness and tension of this format is gone. That is what India’s star all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin thinks. He is blaming the rise of T20 cricket for this. Ashwin said that he even turns off TV when ODI cricket was going on.

Ashwin said in a podcast, ”I love to watch cricket. You can say me crazy. But when I sit down to watch ODI cricket, I switch off the TV after a while. I’m scared to watch the game now. During the match, the matter of that ups and down is lost. I don’t feel that excitement before now. ODI has become a bigger version of T20 cricket.”

Ashwin added, “There is no beauty in ODI cricket, there is no excitement. Earlier, batsmen used to take time after coming to the crease. Wanted to take the match to a more exciting place. Then the ball would start to reverse swing. The batting team at one time needed 60 runs off 60 balls and the bowling team was kept ahead despite having 7 wickets in hand. That thing doesn’t exist now. Now that run will go up in the blink of an eye. ”

According to him, the law needs to be changed to bring back the excitement of ODI cricket. Since 2011, two new balls have been used in each innings in this format. A separate ball is used for each end. Ashwin wants this rule to be changed. He wants the spinners to benefit if a ball is used in the innings.

Ashwin hopes the bowlers will get a reverse swing if the law is passed. He added, “It would be an advantage to use one ball per innings. Spinners will be able to show their skills. Towards the end of the match you will see more spinners bowling. It is very important to bring back the fun of the game.
