Predicted Playing XI of Afghanistan in 2nd Match of Tri-Series against Zimbabwe

Predicted Playing XI of Afghanistan in 2nd Match of Tri-Series against Zimbabwe

Afghanistan will begin their campaign in the ODI tri-series against Zimbabwe at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday, October 19. The contest will be the second match of the tournament, which also features Bangladesh. Afghanistan will aim to start strongly, while Zimbabwe will look to build on their opening-match performance against Bangladesh.

Led by Rahmat Shah, Afghanistan have assembled a competitive squad featuring experienced international players such as Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hashmatullah Shahidi. Their combination of aggressive batting, quality spin and versatile all-rounders makes them a strong contender in the competition.

Here’s Predicted Afghanistan Playing XI for Match 2 vs Zimbabwe:

Top-order: Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Sediq Atal

Rahmanullah Gurbaz is expected to open alongside Ibrahim Zadran. Gurbaz’s aggressive approach could help Afghanistan take advantage of the powerplay, while his wicketkeeping duties make him an important part of the team’s overall combination.

Ibrahim, meanwhile, can provide stability at the other end. His ability to construct an innings and bat for long periods could prove valuable if Zimbabwe’s seamers strike early. The opening pair will need to balance attacking intent with sensible shot selection to give Afghanistan a solid foundation.

Sediqullah Atal could bat at number three, offering another left-handed option in the top order. His role will be to maintain momentum after the powerplay while ensuring that Afghanistan do not lose wickets in quick succession.

Middle order: Mohammad Nabi, Rahmat Shah, Azmatullah Omarzai and Hashmatullah Shahidi

Captain Rahmat Shah will be central to Afghanistan’s batting plans. His experience and ability to rotate the strike make him a suitable player to guide the innings through the middle overs. He will also have to manage the bowling resources and make tactical decisions against Zimbabwe’s experienced campaigners.

Hashmatullah Shahidi is another key selection. The left-hander can stabilise the innings if Afghanistan lose early wickets and build partnerships that allow the team’s attacking players to flourish. His presence alongside Rahmat gives Afghanistan two experienced batters capable of handling pressure.

Mohammad Nabi adds valuable depth to the middle order. The veteran all-rounder can accelerate the scoring rate when required and provide off-spin bowling, giving Afghanistan greater flexibility with their combination.

Azmatullah Omarzai is expected to play a crucial role with both bat and ball. His pace-bowling ability gives Afghanistan another seam option, while his power-hitting can help the team add important runs in the closing overs.

Omarzai’s presence also allows Afghanistan to maintain batting depth without compromising their bowling resources. If the top order produces a strong platform, he could be used as an aggressive finisher. Should early wickets fall, he may need to play a more measured innings.

Bowlers: Rashid Khan, Nangelyalia Kharote, Fazalhaq Farooqi

Rashid Khan will be Afghanistan’s key bowling weapon. His leg-spin, variations and ability to attack the stumps make him a major threat during the middle overs. He will be expected to take wickets while preventing Zimbabwe’s batters from accelerating.

Nangeyalia Kharoti provides a left-arm spin option, while AM Ghazanfar offers off-spin and the potential to trouble batters with changes in pace and trajectory. Afghanistan’s spin trio could be particularly important if the surface offers grip.

Fazalhaq Farooqi is likely to lead the pace attack with his left-arm angle and ability to move the new ball. His job will be to create early breakthroughs and return when required during the later overs. Afghanistan could also consider Yamin Ahmadzai or Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi if they prefer a different pace-bowling combination.
