Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group has signed a multi-million-pound agreement with Lancashire County Cricket Club to develop a state-of-the-art high-performance centre near Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.

The project will see the RPSG Group acquire a parcel of land behind Old Trafford, where a modern training facility will be constructed as part of the group’s long-term vision to strengthen cricket infrastructure across its franchises.

Goenka, who owns the IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants, also holds a 70 per cent stake in Manchester Super Giants, one of the eight teams competing in The Hundred. The franchise has enjoyed a promising start to the 2026 season, winning two of its opening matches to sit near the top of the points table.

As part of the agreement, Lancashire’s existing indoor training centre will be transformed into a world-class high-performance facility. The upgraded centre will feature indoor practice nets, a fully equipped gymnasium, outdoor training areas, and dedicated sports science and medical facilities.

The facility is expected to serve as a central training hub for teams under the RPSG Group while also supporting Lancashire Cricket’s long-term development plans.

Speaking after the agreement, Goenka emphasized the group’s commitment to investing in cricket and creating a lasting legacy for the sport.

“Cricket is at the heart of RPSG Group’s sporting investments, and this partnership reflects our long-term commitment to the game. Lancashire Cricket shares our ambition to build facilities that give players every opportunity to succeed, and we are proud to be investing alongside them in a project that will benefit the Club, the Super Giants family and the wider game for years to come. This is about leaving a lasting legacy for cricket in this region – a facility that will shape the development of players for generations to come,” Goenka said in a statement.

The high-performance centre will cater to all teams under the RPSG umbrella, including IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants, The Hundred side Manchester Super Giants, and SA20 outfit Durban’s Super Giants. The facility will also be available for international and touring teams playing at Old Trafford.

According to the joint statement released by RPSG Group and Lancashire County Cricket Club, the project forms part of a broader long-term strategy to establish world-class cricket infrastructure at Old Trafford alongside the AO Farington Cricket Ground.

The initiative is aimed at providing elite training environments for players across all levels while ensuring Lancashire’s men’s and women’s teams, along with the Super Giants franchises, have access to top-class facilities for years to come.
