A win-deprived Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Match 50 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday, May 7.
LSG are currently on a six-match winless run and find themselves at the bottom of the standings, with just four points to their name. Their most recent defeat came against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Rishabh Pant’s side did have plenty of positives against MI, and will want to take that back home to get back to winning ways.
RCB, on the other hand, are also coming into the game on the back of a defeat, losing to the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. The 2025 champions, however, are still second in the standings and are one of the favourites to qualify for the playoffs.
Both LSG and RCB faced each other earlier this season at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, with the hosts coming out on top. The Lucknow-based side posted just 146 on the board, which was chased down with relative ease with more than four overs to spare.
3. Rajat Patidar vs Prince Yadav

Rajat Patidar and Prince Yadav have faced each other just once in the IPL, and that encounter took place in the game between the two teams earlier this season. Yadav got the better of Patidar on that occasion, after being hit for a six on the previous delivery. Yadav is usually LSG’s first change bowler and is likely to face Patidar once again in the powerplay or just after. It is worth mentioning that the seamer is currently the Super Giants’ leading wicket-taker with 13 scalps to his name.
2. Mitchell Marsh vs Bhuveshwar Kumar

A battle which can dictate the powerplay will be Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s swing against Mitchell Marsh’s brute force at the start of the innings. Bhuvneshwar is currently the Purple Cap holder with 17 wickets to his name from nine matches at an economy rate of just 7.54.
Marsh, on the other hand, is LSG’s highest run-scorer, with 256 runs, whilst striking at close to 140. The duo has faced each other five times in the IPL, with Marsh scoring 35 runs against the Indian seamer at a strike-rate of 140. Bhuvneshwar, however, has dismissed the right-handed Australian once in his illustrious IPL career.
1. Virat Kohli vs Mohammed Shami

Virat Kohli’s clash against his former India teammate Mohammed Shami is set to be the most important matchup in the game. The RCB talisman does not have the best record against Shami in the IPL.
The right-handed batter has been dismissed five times from 13 innings by the fast bowler, whilst scoring 119 runs from 84 balls. This season has seen a new version of Kohli, who tends to attack the new-ball bowlers from the get-go, something the 35-year-old seamer will need to be wary about.
