In what comes as shocking news, Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has tested positive for usage of a recreational drug during the T20 World Cup 2026, which was held across February and March. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now conducting an investigation in the matter, as per popular media reports.

Reportedly, Nawaz will now be unable to participate in the upcoming T20 Blast season in the United Kingdom, as Surrey County has nullified the deal signed by the left-arm all-rounder ahead of the impending edition. The club, however, has not spoken publicly on the matter, with the season starting in a few days’ time. Nawaz had already obtained a no-objection certificate from the PCB to participate abroad.

“The International Cricket Council (ICC) has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about this matter, and PCB has begun the due process. The results of this process will be communicated to the ICC today,” a PCB spokesperson was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

In eight games in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, Nawaz has been representing the Multan Sultans and has had quite a poor start on an individual front. The cricketer has played eight matches in the season, taking only six wickets, while his contributions with the bat as an all-rounder are best if ignored.
