Dhoni had also been present during India’s semifinal clash against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Men in Blue registered a thrilling seven-run victory in a high-scoring encounter to secure their place in the summit clash. Dhoni attended the game alongside his wife, Sakshi, while several well-known personalities from the entertainment industry, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Anil Kapoor, were also spotted enjoying the match from the stands. Notably, Indian cricketers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were among those present at the stadium to support the national team in Wankhede.
The Men in Blue now head into the final under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav with the chance to make history. The team will aim to defend their T20 World Cup title and become the first team to win the tournament on home soil. A victory would also make India the first team to claim three T20 World Cup trophies.
Standing in India’s way are the Black Caps, who are chasing their first-ever T20 World Cup title. New Zealand booked their spot in the final with a clinical victory over South Africa in the semifinal at Eden Gardens. Opener Finn Allen produced a sensational 33-ball century in that match, helping the BlackCaps cruise to victory. Historically, New Zealand has enjoyed success against India in T20 World Cup encounters, winning their previous meetings in 2007, 2016, and 2021. However, India enters the final in strong form.
