Women’s T20 League 2023: Top 3 best bowlers of the tournament

The inaugural season of the Women’s T20 League is all set to be concluded with a final match between Mumbai and Delhi, which is scheduled to be held on March 26th at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Meanwhile, we have witnessed so many spectacular performances throughout the tournament.

Even though the season was mostly dominated by the batters, there are some bowlers who turned into the matchwinner for their teams. With so many great bowling performances throughout the tournament, here are the top three bowlers from the first of the Women’s T20 League.

Hayley Matthews

The opening batter from West Indies turned out to be an all-rounder for the Mumbai franchise with her handy bowling. The left-arm bowler is the third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament till now. Hayley Matthews has appeared in nine matches for Mumbai where she scalped 13 wickets averaging 15.15 with an economy of 6.56. She is also the fifth on the list of leading run-scorer amassing 258 runs as an opener.

Saika Ishaque

The slow left-arm orthodox bowler, who is yet to debut for the Indian team, turned out to be the leading wicket-taker for Mumbai and the second-highest taker in the Women’s T20 League. Saika Ishaque has taken 15 wickets from the nine games played so far and played a crucial role in the Mumbai franchise getting into the finals. She has a great opportunity to overtake Sophie Ecclestone in the final against Delhi and finish the season as the highest wicket-taker.

The left-arm bowler from England is currently the leading wicket-taker of the season. Sophie Ecclestone played a crucial role in getting UP into the top three taking 16 wickets from nine matches. She also maintained an impressive economy of 6.65 at an average of 14.68. Her best performance in a match against Bangalore, where she scalped 4 wickets conceding only 13 runs in her 3.3 overs. Although she is just one wicket ahead of Saika Ishaque who could take over her in the final match between Mumbai and Delhi
