Jemimah Rodrigues might be seen captaining the Delhi Capitals Women at the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. This will be the first time that the side will be having a new full-time skipper taking charge since Meg Lanning, who led them to three consecutive finals. However, the franchise parted ways with Lanning, clearing the path for Jemimah to be handed over the captaincy duties.
Notably, the Mumbai-born has already been a part of DC’s leadership core, as she was the vice-captain in the previous season as well. If the promotion story is indeed true, Jemimah will be wanting to make the Delhi-based team go the distance and cross the final frontier to lift their maiden WPL title — a phenomenon that has eluded them for all the seasons so far.
According to Cricbuzz, the official announcement for Jemimah’s appointment as the captain will be made on Tuesday, December 23. She will be seen leading a pack that also includes the firepower of Shafali Verma, Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp, Sneh Rana, and Laura Wolvaardt to name a few.
Speaking of her numbers in the WPL, Jemimah has played 27 matches in the league so far, all of them with DC, accumulating 507 runs at an average of 28.16, which also includes three half-centuries. Her most successful season came in 2024, where she made 235 runs in nine games, striking the ball at a fierce rate of 153.59.
